Breaker Bay
Breaker Bay
My sister moved overseas for her work and to assist her with not feeling to far away from home, I created this artwork of Breaker Bay as a window to her homeland. We took this to England, rolled up in a cardboard tube to London via Los Angeles.

Created
Created
My first and only self portrait with the juxtaposition between me as the creator of the artwork, while also acknowledging my creator.
“Unlike you, I AM unable to talk to my creator. AS ART I hang here waiting TRYING TO CRY OUT TO HIM. You on the other hand have a voice. YOU HAVE A SOUL. You can cry out to your maker and talk to Him. If I had that option, I’d be thankful that HE CREATED ME.”

Isolation Under the Son
Isolation Under the Son
Taking inspiration from the flat New Zealand landscape and trying to paint with a little more realism.

Freedom
Freedom
My first mixed media artwork, with acrylic and wire netting stretched over the top of it to exaggerate the juxtaposition of freedom.
“FREEDOM Freedom. Free will. Glimpse. TASTE OF FREEDOM. A GLIMPSE. Yet restricted by what goes beyond. Unknown.”
“FREEDOM. DREAMS ARE FREE. Dream to be free. Beyond the WIRE FENCE. FREEDOM. FREEDOM.” -
King of the Jews
King of the Jews
“CRUCIFY HIM. But Jesus did not say anything. ‘I am not guilty of this mans death. You are the ones who are causing it. Clean Me. Are you the KING OF THE JEWS? Jesus answered ‘Those are your words.”
“That old rugged cross, bearing the sins of all. The curtain in the TEMPLE was town into 2 TWO pieces; from the top to the bottom (a curtain divided the Most Holy Place from the other parts of the Temple.)”
“DARKNESS covered the earth EARTH for 3 three HOURS. ELI Eli, Eli lama sabachthani. Surely He was the Son of God SON OF GOD.” -
Light Box I
Light Box I
The idea of creating a world inside a box was the inspiration for this work; imagining looking into a box to see light captured inside. This artwork was destroyed to create further artworks, as the board was quite heavy and was difficult to hang.
“Struggling out. Exposing Truth. Shine Out. Shine Out. Shine Out. Shine On. Life. Shine Out Shine Out Shine On”

Light Humbling
Light Humbling
“Light of the World that they may see. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand that He may lift you up in due time. Let your light shine before men.”

Light Room
Light Room
After studying the works of Vermeer in Art History class, I decided to use this as inspiration for continuing my light in a box series, and explored the box being a room. I loved the way that Vermeer was able to capture light and shadows in his work, and attempted recreating that in this work.

Light of Life
Light of Life
Following on from “Light Humbling“, this is the red version.
“LIGHT. which ____ the darkness, but we have the light of life. Lead the way for the lost. Illuminate the soul.”

Light Box II
Light Box II
This is the second of internal views of a box that contains light. The text is created by printing out the words and then cutting them out with a knife before dabbing paint over the top. It’s not exactly handwritten, but it creates neat text in paint.
“LIFE. Rise the next day. Light the path. SHINE. Life. Containment. Containment. Containment. Contamination.
