I am an artist. Though more specifically a painter, just so I don't get lumped in with those people who use art as an excuse for stupidity.
I am a web-designer. Every now and then I pull out the laptop and write a few hundred lines of code.
I am a Christian. A Christ follower. Enough said.
As the last couple of years have passed, and Art History papers have forced thinking about certain issues surrounding art, I have found myself compelled to write about art - to share my views and thoughts regarding various themes.
The following are my texts. My pieces. My ramblings on art. No doubt they will challenge thinking, or enlighten you to different ideas. No doubt this collection will also continue to grow in the years to come - even after the last of my Art History papers.
I have in fact included some of the essays which I wrote for Art History. They are usually on a specific topic, but I am somewhat happy with their final state - even if the markers weren't!
Also included is my thesis-like novel on my thoughts on art. Its called "What is Art?". It outlines a few of the thinkings behind what I think art is. I wrote it in my spare time, and 13,000 words later I have a small book on my shelf because of it! Enjoy the read!
I feel that writing about art is an important part of an artist's life. It allows others to see your thinkings which ground your artwork. It also opens up the floor for your own opinions, your own views and I've found it beneficial to my art to know that it extends beyond the four sides of the canvas - to not just be portrayed with paint, but with pen and ink; with pixel and screen.
